About Our LinkedIn Benchmark Data
Prepared by Oktopost's B2B Research Team · Updated monthly
Our LinkedIn benchmark data is aggregated from over 1,000 B2B company LinkedIn Pages across more than 15 industries, including Technology, Financial Services, Healthcare, Manufacturing, and Professional Services. Data is collected and updated monthly to ensure accuracy and relevance. In our analysis, Technology sector companies with 500–2,000 employees consistently show the highest engagement rates, a useful reference point if your company falls into that segment.
The benchmark tool compares your LinkedIn metrics against percentile distributions, specifically the 50th percentile (median), 75th percentile (strong performers), and 90th percentile (top performers). This gives you a precise understanding of where your company stands relative to peers of similar size in your industry.
Metrics include impressions per post, engagement per post (reactions, comments, shares, and clicks), total page followers, new follower acquisition, engagement rate (engagement ÷ impressions), follower growth rate, and employee advocacy engagement. We recommend benchmarking at least 4 metrics for a meaningful comparison.
All data is anonymized and aggregated. Individual company performance is never disclosed. The benchmark dataset is curated by Oktopost, the leading B2B social media management platform, using data from its global customer base and public LinkedIn Page analytics. For teams looking to track these metrics continuously, Oktopost's Social Analytics provides real-time dashboards and automated reporting.
How to Interpret Your LinkedIn Benchmark Results
Your benchmark report places each metric at a percentile rank relative to companies in your industry and size range. Here is what each tier means in practice:
Below 50th percentile: Opportunity zone
Your metric is below the median for your industry and size. This is the highest-leverage area to focus on. Start with the AI-powered recommendations in your report. They are ranked by expected impact for your specific segment.
50th–74th percentile: On track
You are performing at or above the median. The goal here is incremental improvement. Focus on the specific metrics where you are closest to the 75th percentile. Small gains here move you into the top quarter of your peer group.
75th–89th percentile: Strong performer
You are outperforming 75% of comparable B2B companies. At this tier, use your results as internal proof points for leadership. These are boardroom-ready numbers that demonstrate social program effectiveness. Learn how to build a social ROI case.
90th percentile and above: Top performer
You are in the top 10% for your industry and company size. At this level, the focus shifts from improvement to scale: employee advocacy, paid amplification, and cross-channel consistency are the levers that maintain top-tier performance as audience expectations rise.
